Elizabeth Keyes Mount, age 99, of Branford for 54 years, beloved wife of the late Raymond Inslee Mount for 59 years, died on Sunday, March 5th 2017.  Mrs. Mount was born on January 12, 1918 in Greeley, CO to the late Victor E. Keyes, Lawyer and Attorney General of CO 1918-1922 and argued for CO water rights before the U.S. Supreme Court, and Dora Ladd Keyes.  At the height of the Depression, Elizabeth did bookkeeping for the Old Colony Building and Loan Association of which her mother was President. The Association created the Glenmere subdivision in Greeley, and successfully avoided the need for loan foreclosures or mergers during this difficult time.  Elizabeth received Associate, Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Stevens College, Northwestern University and Northern Colorado State University.  She served as a Navy WAVE during WWII as Specialist T1/C. She attended boot camp in New York City, received specialist training in instrumentation flight in Atlanta and taught Navy fliers at the Naval Air Station in Norman, Oklahoma, teaching instrument flying to Cadets using early Singer-Link flight simulators.  She was honorably discharged from the Presidio in San Francisco on November 15, 1945. She taught English, Drama and Theatre Arts in Colorado, Nevada, and Washington State.  She moved to San Francisco with her husband in 1950 to create puppet shows with her husband and to start a family.  She later moved to Branford where she was active in the Branford Congregational Church and engaged in volunteer activities, including the “Reading to the Blind” program.  She is survived by her two sons, Richard and David Mount and six grandsons, Albert and Thomas, Peter, Henry, Michael and Samuel.  Friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors on Friday, March 10th at 10:00 am DIRECTLY in Branford Center Cemetery.  THE GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, MILFORD is in care of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an Audubon Society of your choice.
