Mr. Frank Lewis Leavy, Sr., age 91, of Milford, died on September 20, 2016, two months after the passing of his beloved wife, Margaret Olexovitch Leavy. Frank was born in Fairfield on June 8, 1925, to the late Irving and Lillian Siegelack Leavy. He grew up in Stratfield and served in the Army during World War II. He landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day and saw combat with the 29th Infantry Division until the end of the conflict. After the war, Frank joined the Dictaphone Corporation in Bridgeport. He became a tool and die maker and eventually the head of manufacturing engineering. After more than 30 years with the company, he began working in sales, where he was able to apply his manufacturing expertise to improve his customers’ productivity. Frank was an excellent golfer and an avid gardener. Above all, he was devoted to his family, especially to his wife of 68 years, whom he called “My Dolly.” Frank leaves his daughter, Deborah Homola, and her husband, Joseph, of Torrington, and his son, Frank L. Leavy, Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of Hopkinton, NH; also five grandchildren, Gena (Leonard) Golas, Christa (Ryan) Allard, and Evan, Megan and Ashley Leavy; as well as three great grandchildren, Nora Margaret Allard, Leonard Joseph Golas and Peyton Pajak-Leavy. He also leaves two brothers, Edward Leavy of Shelton and Walter Leavy of McGaheysville, VA; plus several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his older brother, Maurice Leavy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22nd at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
