Helen "Scottie" O'Brien

Helen “Scottie” (Scott) O’Brien, age 93, of Charlton, MA, formerly of Milford, CT for over 70 years, beloved wife of the late Donald V. O’Brien, passed surrounded by family at The Overlook on April 18, 2018.  She was born in Loysville, PA on October 14, 1924 to the late Andrew and Evelyn (Junkins) Scott.  Mrs. O’Brien was a switchboard operator for Avco Lycoming for 22 years.  She was a member of several clubs within Avco Lyncoming, Stratford, CT & St. Ann’s Church, Devon, CT.  Survivors include “her son, her son” Dennis M. O’Brien (and his late wife Susan Brelsford O’Brien) of Charlton, MA,  granddaughter Tracey Lynn Coleman (Brian Sullivan);  great-granddaughter Kathryn “Katey” Coleman (Domenic D’Agostino) of Southbridge, MA,  niece Sharon Stiles and nephews.  Scottie was pre-deceased by her daughter Donna E. O’Brien and sister Emma Brunner.  She enjoyed traveling, bowling, gardening and knitting/crocheting baby blankets for hospitals and lap blankets for cancer patients.

Friends and family are invited to attend the graveside service on Saturday, April 28th at 10:30 a.m. at Kings Highway Cemetery, 270 Cherry Street, Milford, CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
