Howard E Wakeley

Howard E. Wakeley, age 81, beloved husband of Lola Jane Niper Wakeley for 56 years, died on Monday, January 8, 2018 with his family by his side. Howard was born in Bridgeport on May 11, 1936 to the late Howard and Florence Delugos Wakeley. He was a proud US Navy veteran and worked as a lead foreman at Raybestos in Stratford and after many years retired from Carrier Corporation a Division of United Technologies. He loved the annual family hunting trips, yard work and enjoyed spending time with his family.  Survivors include his sisters; Bernice Leonetti of Monroe and Shirley King of TX, brothers-in-law; Richard Hurley of Old Lyme, Richard Niper of Milford and Allen Niper (Janet) of Milford, sister-in-law, Diana Flanagan (Daniel) of NE and several nieces and nephews.  Howard is predeceased by his sister; Florence Hurley.  Friends and family may call on Friday, January 12th from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm in The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford.  A Funeral Service and the interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport at 10:00 am on Saturday January 13, 2018 with full military honors.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
