Jean M (Connelly) McBride

Jean M. McBride, age 93, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Leo E. McBride, died on Wednesday, November 16 with her family by her side. Jean was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 15, 1923 to the late William and Elizabeth McElroy Connelly.  Jean graduated in 1944 from Saint Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a proud veteran of WWII working as an Army Nurse serving in the Philippines and in Japan.  Later in life, she worked at the Department of Aging for the city of Bridgeport.
Survivors include her five children: Peter McBride and his wife Nancy of FL, Timothy McBride and his wife Sharon of MD, Jane Novia O’Reilly and her husband Michael O’Reilly M.D. of Monroe, Martha McBride and her husband Allen Gregory of Redding and Maureen and her husband Jeffrey Helgren of Newtown, siblings; Thomas Connelly of PA, Martha Sullivan of DE, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. McBride is predeceased by her brothers Paul, William Jr. and John Connelly and sisters, Patricia Corcoran, Anne Dillon and Mary Redgate.  Friends and family are invited to call on Friday November 18th, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm in THE GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD.  A Memorial Mass will be held in Saint Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford on Saturday, November 19th at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Beth-el Center Food Programs, 90 New Haven Ave, Milford, CT or to St Vincent’s College Nursing Scholarships, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606.
