John C Ashelman

John C. Ashelman, age 77, of Milford, beloved husband of Irene Oakley Ashelman, died on June 14, 2017 surrounded by his family.  John was born in Unityville, PA on January 7, 1940 to the late Conrad and Martha Sherwood Ashelman.  He was a truck driver for Carolina Freight and later for ABF Freight.  After retirement he worked at Kennedy Trucking and Mauro Motors.  He was also a member of Teamster Local 443 in New Haven.  John enjoyed socializing with friends at the Athenian diner and going out to dinner.  In addition to his wife Irene, survivors include his children: Kathy Lou Robinson (Jeff) of Northford, William Ashelman (Rose) of Guilford, step-children; Kathleen Cadilek (Arthur) of Oxford, Laurie Vitale (Lyle) of West Haven, William Ott (Laurie) of Milford and Daniel Ott (Tammi) of Stratford, 12 grandchildren, siblings, Karen Stanfil, John and Frank Kriss all of AZ.  Friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Thursday, June 22nd at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden.  Arrangements are entrusted with The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, Milford.
