Richard L Straube Sr.

Richard Straube Sr. of Orange, beloved husband and father died peacefully while surrounded by family on July 19th, 2016.  Born in Huntsville, Alabama on February 6, 1951, Rick, as he was known, was the son of the late Harold Strabue and Patricia Sanderson Straube.  He is survived by his devoted son Richard Lee Straube Jr., and his wife Jessica.  He is also survived by his brother, Steven Straube.    

Rick was a resident of Milford and Orange for over 40 years.  He is remembered as a quiet man of few words but those words made an extraordinary impact on those around him.  Rick worked as the manager of FishCo in Milford, CT and Fish Fish Fish in Palisades Park, NJ, sharing his expansive knowledge of tropical fish.    Rick is also remembered for his love of nature, especially spending time on the river while fly fishing.  An avid artist, he designed and tied his own flies while also spending time creating watercolor landscapes and pen/ink drawings.   

Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
