Joan (Seliga) Gentile

Joan Gentile, age 74, of Oceanside, California and formerly of Monroe, Connecticut,

beloved wife of Larry Gentile, entered into eternal rest on October 19, 2016. Joan was

born in Bridgeport, CT on January 30, 1942, and she was the daughter of the

late Frank Seliga and the late Katheryn Blaszczyk. Joan was a lifelong resident of

Connecticut prior to moving out to sunny California a few years ago. Joan was a graduate

of Bryant College. Her most enjoyable times were spent at the beach, traveling and with

her husband and two grandchildren who were her whole world. Joan worked in the travel

industry for over twenty years as a travel agent and a flight attendant. She enjoyed

sharing her love of traveling with her grandchildren as she took them on countless

vacations with her. Joan was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Tartaglia, with

whom she is now reunited. Along with her beloved husband, Joan is survived by her

grandchildren, who she loved like her own children, Stephen Tartaglia and wife Maria

Tartaglia of Monroe, and Jessica Tartaglia of Milford. She is also survived by many

special cousins and friends. Joan lit up every room that she walked into with her

charismatic and witty personality and she was loved by everyone. Joan will remain in all

of our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6 , 2017 at

9:30 AM at the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue Milford, CT. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Milford.
