Richard James Merenda

Richard James Merenda, born June 3, 1954, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on August 20, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Milford having graduated from Johnathan Law High School working at the local drive-in before he took on his career as a Machinist. He was known for his smile and his “one day at a time” attitude. To him there was no problem he couldn’t find the solution. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and close friends he considered family, eating homemade food and listening to oldies. He made it his life to be a devoted son, brother, husband, father and papa. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Patricia (Fogler) Merenda, his children, Michael Merenda, Christine (Gargiulo) Merenda, James Merenda, Jennifer (Merenda) Conroy and Thomas Conroy; his grandchildren, Emily Merenda, Abigail Merenda, Henry Conroy, Matthew Conroy and Sophie Conroy; his sister, Karen (Merenda) Cain; Brother in-law, William “Pat” Rogers; niece Tracy (Rogers) Sarmento and her husband John Sarmento, great nephew Johnathan Sarmento; Brother in-law, Dennis Fogler as well many other family members and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Samuel Merenda and Joanne (Mollica) Merenda and sister, Joanne (Merenda) Rogers. Services will be private with a memorial in his honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Smilow Cancer Center or a Foundation of your choice.
