Sandra Barbour

Byrdstown, TN Sandra (Sandy) E. Barbour, passed away on Dec. 3, 2017 at her home with her precious cat, Callie by her side. She was born in Litchfield County, CT on June 23, 1954 and was the daughter of the late Hugh and Lucille Barbour. She spent most of her time in Thomaston and later settling in Tennessee. Her love of animals led her to breeding German Shephard dogs, entering the, in AKC events where she won many awards and ribbons. Sandy also became a certified canine obedience instructor. Her horses held a soft spot in her heart, winning trophies with them at equine shows. She will be sadly missed. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandparents, Millard and Lend (Scheebel) Sheldon and Alexander and Elizabeth Mair Barbour, her beloved brother, Robert Barbour and her cherished dog, Leira. Survivors include her sister in law, Geraldine Barbour, several cousins, including Andrew Blackwood, Geraldine (Blackwood) Jensen, Ernest Blackwood, Sr., Robert Sheldon, Carol Smith, and Clair Lyon. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 (Her Birthday) at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Thomaston, CT with the Rev. Denise Clapsaddle officiating.
