Edward Charles Henning, age 73, lifelong resident of Milford, beloved husband of Joni (Troxler) Henning, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2023 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Edward was born on May 4, 1949 to the late Charles William Henning and the late Patricia (Maiden) Olenski and her husband, Henry. Ed worked as a mechanic at Bic Corp. for 50 years until his retirement. Ed was a proud husband and father who loved telling stories of his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed spending time outdoors- golfing and playing baseball in his younger years, tending to his vegetable garden, smoking ribs, fishing for snapper blues, and bird watching.
Ed was a quiet man with a lighthearted personality who loved to have fun- whether that was duckpin bowling on Sundays, drinking a bud and playing pinball, or cheering on his Red Sox. All who knew him will miss his great sense of humor.
In addition to his devoted wife he leaves, his children, Edward Henning, Jr. (Dixie) of GA, Dawn Henning (Edward Finlayson) of New Haven, Heather Henning of Milford and stepson, Ricky Smith, Jr. (Irene) of North Haven, five grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as “Papa or Poppy” Eddie Henning, III (Lylee), Daisy Henning-Morse, Emmett Finlayson, Hunter Smith, and Tabitha Smith. He also leaves his great granddaughter, Elliot Grace Henning, stepdaughter in law, Wendy Brunell of Milford, his siblings, Thomas Olenski (Wendy), James Olenski (Melody) and Timothy Olenski (Karen) all of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. His stepson, Brenton Michael Smith predeceased him.
