Gerard Rooney
Obituary
Gerard Rooney, age 89, longtime resident of Milford, beloved husband of the late Ann Marie (Kearney) Rooney, entered peaceful rest on June 18, 2023.
He was born in Carrickmacross, Ireland on January 21, 1934 and was the son of the late James and May (Rafferty) Rooney. He was a lineman for IBEW Local 42 in Manchester and also worked as an electrician for Honeywell in Stratford before his retirement. Gerard was proud of his Irish heritage. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Gaelic-American Club in Fairfield and the Milford Irish Club. Along with his wife, he enjoyed traveling to Ireland and abroad and countless vacations to Florida and Las Vegas.
Gerard is survived by his three devoted sons, Anthony Gerard Rooney and his wife, Diane of Seymour, Patrick Rooney and Gerald Rooney both of Milford. He also leaves his four loving grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Daniel and Andrea. He was predeceased by several brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Ann Church (St. Raphael Parish). There will be no calling hours.
