James Drew Wiltsie, born November 4, 1950 to Rollin and Madeline (Galvin) Wiltsie, passed away October 28th surrounded by his family in the Lordship section of Stratford. Known as Big Jim, husband, father, brother, uncle, ump, coach, Cardinal and friend to many, his time on this earth can only be described as one of a kind and full of the most fun. He was legendary and the life of every party. Jim retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles and loved spending his best days on golf courses as a member of many leagues. He enjoyed umpiring baseball and softball games, hosting poolside parties, challenging friends at horseshoes and saving space at the annual family bench party. He loved his NY Giants, NY Yankees, challenging future Cardinals and cheering his grandchildren from every sideline. Jim served the Stratford community as the former President of the Lordship Fathers Club, President of the VFW Stratford Post 9460 auxiliary, golf tournament event director and as a Second Hill Lane Elementary school crossing guard. He was also a member of the Milford Elks Lodge 1589.
Jim leaves behind his wife Marcia Delaney Wiltsie, son James (Amy) Wiltsie of Stratford, daughters Jennifer (Tom) Pjatak and Jaime (Dan) Farrell and step daughter Kate (Evan Beller) McNeil. Jim also leaves behind sisters Judy Flores, June (Dan) Beeman and brother Bob (Sandy Driscoll) Wiltsie. Seven grandchildren Kayla and Tyler Pjatak, Ryann, Raegan and Jack Wiltsie and Payton and Parker Farrell as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by brothers Mike and Jack Wiltsie.
Friends are invited to celebrate his life, and birthday, on Thursday, November 4th from 4:00 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Stratford VFW. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to the Stratford VFW Auxiliary, 100 Veterans Blvd Stratford, CT. 06615.
