Jeanne Mary (Lawton) Morrell, age 90, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Milton Carl Morrell entered into peaceful rest on Monday, March 9, 2020, with her daughters at her side, at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport
Born on July 30, 1929 in Franklin Square New York, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Kaszner) Lawton.
A longtime resident of Milford, Mrs. Morrell enjoyed her time as a member of the Ladies Guild of St. Ann's Church and the Naugatuck Gardens Ladies Club back in the day. She loved music and dancing, was very crafty, enjoyed sewing, making dolls including the Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls as well as creating the kids Halloween costumes. She spent many years with her family and dear friends at Strawberry Park where she loved to play bocce, Bingo and was a washer toss champ. She enjoyed living near Foxwoods Casino where she was lucky with the slot machines and bingo and if you were with her you were almost sure to leave a winner. She wintered in Florida for many years with her husband Milt enjoying the warm weather, beaches and making new friends. Family was most important to her enjoying many gatherings with them all over the years. Her daughters always referred to her as the Energizer Bunny, she was always in motion going somewhere or cleaning something.
Mrs. Morrell is survived by her four loving and devoted daughters, Pamela Morrell-Nielsen and her husband Frederick of Milford, Janet Muller-Tiroletto and her husband Anthony of West Haven, Karen Plaveck and her husband Bruce of Milford and Lisa Lesinsky and her husband Kenneth of Oxford. Four grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Nana”, Steven Muller, Sarah Gualtieri and her husband Matthew, Jennifer Breen and her husband Ryan and Vincent Tiroletto; one great-grandson, Evan Gualtieri and one great-grandaughter, Emma Eileen Breen who is due to arrive in August. She also leaves her beloved twin sister, Eileen Lawton and several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, April. She is predeceased by her siblings, Patricia Moffett, Elizabeth Cousino, Edward Lawton, William Lawton and Warren “Buck” Lawton.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at 9:15 a.m. at the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Interment to follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Milford. Family and friends may call from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
