John F. Jones

John Francis Jones, 75, of Stratford CT, passed away on January 3, 2021.  Born in Cranston, RI on April 12, 1945 to the late Eva Cobb & Arthur Jones, John is survived by his wife Sandra, daughter Natasha Peruzzi (Ronald), son John Jones II (Hedieh) and daughter Nickole Staves (Andrew). He found great joy in his four grandchildren,  Ana Peruzzi, Alexandria Peruzzi, Benjamin Staves and Katherine Staves. John is also survived by his five siblings, Arthur, Leah, Mary-Lou, Albert and Matthew.

John and Sandra lived for over 30 years in Seymour, CT before spending retirement in Myrtle Beach, SC and then returning to Stratford CT. John served in the US Army in Alaska before marrying Sandra. They were united at Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia CT in 1967. John was an active member of the church, serving on committees, advising the youth group and coaching the basketball team. John is a retiree of Sikorsky Aircraft, where he worked as a skilled tool and die maker. One Christmas, Sandra asked John to put on a Santa Suit and deliver toys to the kids - he obliged and continued the tradition for decades more. His grandkids know him as Poppy Claus.

While living in Myrtle Beach, John had four passions. Sandra of course was the love and light of his life. Together they joined a new church, Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, where he became a Sub-Deacon. He was most proud of this accomplishment. When he was not doing work for the church he loved to play golf. Lastly he found the perfect companion in his dog, Little Jay who is known as “Just Trouble.”

John’s lasting legacy is the lessons of love, strength, faith, patience and generosity that he taught us all.

Due to Covid 19, the family will have a private ceremony.
