Judith (Judy) Delaney, age 81, of Milford, CT passed away on January 3, 2021 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the beloved wife of 59 years of Jack Delaney.
Judy was born in Hyannis, MA on November 1, 1939, the daughter of the late Richard and Miriam Cochran. She graduated from Wellfleet, MA High School in 1957 and from the University of Massachusetts in 1961 with a degree in Elementary Education. She and Jack met at UMASS and they married in June 1961. In addition to raising her children, Judy enjoyed volunteering in schools and in youth programs. In later years, she received an MS degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Bridgeport, CT and worked in that field until her retirement.
Her greatest volunteer achievement came from over 30 years as a grateful member and contact person for Families Anonymous, where she met and shared with many members who remained faithful friends until the end.
In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by four children and three grandchildren; Tim Delaney of Hamilton, Ohio, Jon Delaney and his son Justin Delaney of Trumbull, Jennifer Delaney, husband Paul Elliott and their children Declan and Iris Elliott of Pasadena, CA, and Chris Delaney of Orange. She is also survived by her brother Rick Cochran of Hull, MA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Nancy Lavash.
Funeral services will be handled by the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home in Milford. Internment will be private at Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown, CT. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
