Shirley J Bassler

Shirley J. Bassler, 95 of Milford, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 20, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late William R. Bassler.

Shirley was born in Bridgeport on September 23, 1927 to the late John and Dorothy Clemann Bartram.  She worked for many years at Standard Oil in Stratford as a secretary in their office.  

Shirley was a down to earth woman who enjoyed gardening, solving crossword puzzles, colorful flowers, and was an avid reader.  Above all, Shirley loved spending time playing cards and games with her family. 

Shirley will be sadly missed by her daughters: Christine O’Neill and Cheryl Holter (Gary); grandchildren: Matthew, Eric, and Adam Holter, Shannon Blake (Chris), Kyle O’Neill (Heather), Stacey Buffone, and Jennifer O’Connor (Kevin); great-grandchildren: Kaelan, Natalie, Kaylee, Scarlett, Camryn, Harper, Brody, Connor, Aiden and Archer. In addition to Shirley’s parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Richard Bassler and brother, James Bartram.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford.  There are no calling hours.  The GREGORY F DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
