Genevieve Leona (Aronson) Hunnicutt, age 91, beloved wife of the late Edward J Hunnicutt for 62 years, passed into the loving hands of God on December 21st after a short illness at Milford Hospital. She was born at her home in Milford on September 29, 1925 to the late Axel and Rose Lagier Aronson. Genevieve grew up on Loomis St, attending Devon grammar school and graduating from Milford High School where she was in the marching band. She attended nursing school and worked at Tilo of Stratford. After marriage, she moved to Meadowside Road and raised her family. Genevieve was active in Scouting as a Den Mother and later retired after 20 years from Alexander’s at the Post Mall. Gen spent her retirement years helping others, visiting family and friends, especially longtime friend Gina Proto, in her little gray car. She loved telling stories and enjoyed shopping for a bargain. As her mobility decreased, Gen used email and Facebook to stay connected to family and friends, enjoying picture posts, old times and new additions to her extended family. She was a NY Yankee fan and fanatical Uconn Women's and Men's basketball fan. She loved observing birds and was a good friend to all cats and dogs. Genevieve is survived by two sons, Edward J. Hunnicutt Jr. of Milford and Richard A. Hunnicutt (Regina) of Greenwich; her sister Rose Schuler (Don) of Stratford, brother-in-law Theodore Andre (Judy) of Bridgeport, five grandchildren: Edward J Hunnicutt III (Michelle) of Torrington, Amy and Kimberly Hunnicutt of Milford, Emily Hunnicutt of Seattle WA, Michael Hunnicutt of Greenwich, and her first great grandchild Edward J Hunnicutt IV (who she truly enjoyed) and daughter in law, Teresa P. Hunnicutt of Milford and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Genevieve was predeceased by her brother Albert Axel Aronson and sister-in-law and close friend Phyllis Pacelli. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00pm-7:00pm in The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30am at Saint Mary Church, Milford followed by interment in Saint Mary Cemetery.
