Karen (Richter) Hansen-Povinelli

Karen Hansen-Povinelli, age 69, of Mississippi and formerly of Florida and Milford, beloved companion of Henry (Hank) Povinelli for over 30 years, and predeceased by her husband Carl Hansen, died on November 4, 2016.  Karen was born in Bridgeport on October 9, 1947 to Sara Leffler Richter and the late Emmett Richter.  She was a longtime Milford resident and worked as the Devon Branch Manager at Milford Bank for many years.  After her retirement, she moved to Florida where she enjoyed golfing, cooking, traveling and spending time with her grandsons.  Karen lived for her family and will especially be missed by her four grandchildren.  Survivors include her daughters; Susan Diamantis (George) of Milford, Kari Smith (Jerry) of MS, sister, Shari Sabatasso  (Tom) of MS, her four grandchildren, Scott and Bryan Pala and William and Charles Diamantis, and step-daughter, Lynn Povinelli, and her two sons, David Rua and Mathew Benson.  Friends and family may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 am-11:00am in THE GREGORY F DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
